If you are looking up sound healing near you and want to know what it costs before you book, here is the number. A private sound healing session at Word of Mouth is $250 for 60 minutes or $325 for 90 minutes, at our studio on Highland Ave near Melrose. No discovery call required to learn the price. We publish it because clear pricing is part of the care.
The short answer
That price covers the whole session: tea when you arrive, breathwork to open, and live singing bowls, gongs and other instruments played for you. If you would like to come with a partner or a friend, a session for two or more people is $400 for 90 minutes.
Sound healing is a complementary practice, not a medical treatment, so it is generally paid directly rather than billed to insurance. It works alongside medical and mental-health care, not instead of it.
Why sound bath prices vary so much
Search around Los Angeles and you will see sound healing priced anywhere from a drop-in group rate to a few hundred dollars. That spread makes sense once you see that "sound healing" covers very different things. Four of them usually explain it.
Private or group
A large group sound bath spreads one facilitator across many people. A private, one-on-one session is built entirely around you, which is a different offering and a different price.
Session length
A short session sits at the lower end. Ours run 60 to 90 minutes, so the nervous system has real time to drop in and the sound has room to do its work.
Live or recorded
Recorded tracks cost less to run than live music. Here the sound is played live, in the room, as the session unfolds. Live music has long been used to support relaxation and wellbeing, a use the American Music Therapy Association describes in its own work.
What else is included
Some sessions are sound alone. Others layer in breathwork or a tea ritual. More under one roof changes what the session is, and what it costs.
What your session includes
At many places, the price buys the sound and nothing else. Here the number covers the whole ritual, start to finish.
- 60 or 90 minutes, entirely private. Just you in the room, with no group to keep pace with. The session moves at your speed, and we do not rush the close.
- Live instruments. Singing bowls, gongs, chimes, bells, ocean drum, hand drums and tuning forks, sometimes piano, voice or tamboura, played in the moment rather than from a recording.
- Breathwork to open. Conscious breathing to settle before the sound begins.
- A session shaped for you. Tuned to what you arrive needing, whether that is a clearer head or a softer heart.

Sound and reiki
Reiki is carried through the sound itself in every private session, rather than as hands-on work, so you do not need to book the two separately. If you would like a reiki session on its own, it is $200 for 60 minutes (the full breakdown lives on what reiki costs).
Is sound healing worth the cost?
Only you can decide what an hour of deep rest is worth to you. What I can be honest about is what the price actually buys: a private, uninterrupted session with live instruments, played for you by someone with 30 years of musical and vibrational study, in a quiet Melrose loft rather than a recording in a crowded room.
Sound healing does not diagnose or treat any condition. What it is built for is simpler than that. You lie down, the room fills with sound, and for an hour nobody needs anything from you. Many people tell us they leave feeling lighter in their body than when they arrived, and that settling is what the session is for.
