The Practice

Does sound healing help with anxiety?

Sound healing is a complementary practice that can support nervous-system regulation for people experiencing anxiety, in the same family of mind-body approaches the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health describes for meditation and relaxation. Trials of music therapy find less self-reported anxiety, though those results don't automatically carry over to sound healing, and research on singing bowls is still early. We go through the evidence in the science of sound healing. Some clients report feeling noticeably calmer during and immediately after a session. Sound healing works alongside licensed mental-health care and anxiety treatment, not in place of it, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition.

Many clients describe arriving wound tight and leaving in what one client called "a deeply relaxed liminal space," the state the body cannot find on its own when anxiety is running the show.

Why It Works

How a session can settle an anxious nervous system

Anxiety is not only a mental state. It lives in the body: a tight chest, a clenched jaw, shoulders held up near the ears, a racing mind that will not quiet even when the situation is resolved. A private session addresses the body first, layering four elements into one visit.

  • Live instruments, not a playlist

Yonatan selects crystal bowls, gongs and other instruments in real time based on how you seem to be responding, holding long tones you can settle into.

  • Rhythm and attention

Research suggests brain activity can track a musical beat. We wouldn't stretch that into a promise about anxiety, but a low, steady tone gives a racing mind something slow to follow.

  • Slower breathing

We open with breath, and deliberate slow breathing has good evidence for raising a heart rate measure tied to the body's rest response. Your own response will vary.

  • Breathwork and reiki layered in

Breathwork gives your body a slower rhythm to follow, and reiki supports energetic regulation. You do not need to do anything except show up. Explore reiki for anxiety as its own path too.

Private, Not a Group Class

Why a private session differs from a group sound bath

A crowded room can spike anxiety before it soothes it. Here is what a private session gives you instead.

No Group-Room Anxiety

Our session is 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 in our private studio at 717 Highland Ave. The room is yours, never a shared studio of strangers.

Custom Instrument Selection

Yonatan selects instruments based on your nervous system in real time, not a fixed playlist built for a general audience.

Multi-Modality in One Session

Sound healing, reiki, breathwork, and tea all in one booking. We always bundle these.

1-on-1 Attention

Your practitioner reads the room and adjusts throughout. If something lands differently, the session adapts with you.

Your Visit

What's in a session: breath, reiki, sound, tea

1

Tea arrival

You arrive at our private studio at 717 Highland Ave. We pour tea and let you decompress before anything begins. Arriving calm is part of the session.

2

Breathwork opens the session

A short guided breathwork sequence helps you arrive before sound begins. Jaime or Yonatan guides this portion, and some clients notice a shift in the first few minutes.

3

Reiki and sound immersion

Yonatan plays crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes and ocean drums, carrying Reiki through the sound. The two modalities layer, not stack.

4

Closing integration

The session ends quietly with a short grounding check-in. You leave with one or two practices to carry the regulation into the rest of your day.

If you have panic disorder, generalized anxiety, or tinnitus, mention it when you book so Yonatan can adjust instrument selection and volume accordingly.

Word of Mouth is amazing. I’m one of those people who tends to be in their heads all the time, so when i first learned about energy work and reiki, i was skeptical. However, I’ve now done two sessions of energy healing with Jaime and i just have to say — wow. First of all, the space is immaculate. It’s beautiful, clean, and so peaceful. I feel my body relaxing just by being there. Second, the energy healing sessions are so helpful. As someone who has spent a lot of time in traditional therapy, i appreciate that the arc of each session involves a talking/coaching component in addition to breathwork, healing movement, and reiki. And my god, the reiki — i can actually feel what jaime is doing in session and it puts my mind and body in a whole other plane, a deeply relaxed liminal space. i left my session today feeling deeply relaxed and like my energy was made of champagne bubbles, which felt both good and surprising considering i came into the session feeling stressed and upset. (oh, and i learned jaime is so dedicated to her craft that she went through reiki master training TWICE just for the love of it?! if you want to work with a master, book an appointment here). If you’re curious about healing work, energy work, breath work, reiki, or any of the other somatic healing modalities, don’t miss this place. Your body will thank you.

Good Questions

Sound healing for anxiety, answered

Honest answers about panic, racing thoughts, medication, and what a session can and cannot do.

It can feel like both, and we can't promise a specific change in your body. Trials of music therapy find less self-reported anxiety, with no clear change in physical measures, and those results don't automatically apply to sound healing. Some clients report that the calm lasts beyond the session. Results vary and a single session is not a cure. Sound healing supports regulation as a complement to clinical care.
Panic disorder and generalized anxiety are common among clients who book here. We ask about your history in a brief intake and adjust the instrument selection accordingly. For tinnitus specifically, gongs can be used at lower volume or substituted with softer instruments. If you are managing a clinical anxiety disorder, please keep working with your licensed provider. Sound healing is complementary, not a replacement.
A group sound bath uses fixed instruments for a general audience in a shared room. A private session here uses instruments selected for your nervous system, in a room that is entirely yours, with breathwork and reiki layered in. See our private sound bath page for format details.
That is not a failure, it is information. Yonatan watches how you're responding and adjusts the instruments and pacing accordingly. Clients who arrive wound the tightest often find the shift arrives later in the session, sometimes only in the final ten minutes. You do not need to relax on schedule.
Sound healing is generally compatible with anxiety medications. We are not a medical practice, and we do not advise on medication. If you are uncertain, ask your prescriber before your session. We do not make medication recommendations.
Private sound healing sessions run $250 to $325 for 60 to 90 minutes, including curated live-instrument selection, reiki integration, breathwork, and tea. See our sound healing cost breakdown for the full picture.
If you have tinnitus or sound sensitivity, mention it when you book. We can adjust the session to use softer instruments, remove gongs, or work at lower volumes. The session can still be effective without the loudest frequencies.
